New Artist fears

"Walking by Faith"

In life and in art we often have to "walk by faith". Things can be uncertain, scary and down-right intimidating at times. It is common to compare ourselves to other artists- always the best ones, right? Forgetting that they too had fearful beginnings and times of doubt.

I love to encourage the budding artist to not only press on, but to have fun. Try to be a kid again, color outside of the lines, soak in the newness of it all as you begin the journey to grow and develop your own unique style.

So I titled this painting, "Walking by Faith" as a reminder that we all have to take that first step, even when the path is not yet clear, and the ground feels a bit rocky and rough. I pray I encourage you to lift up your eyes and embolden your hearts to press on- knowing that with each step your artistic horizon will beautifully come into view.

This is so true. I started my art journey about 2 years ago. For the first few paintings I actually thought they were good.!!
Then I started to join art groups and see all the beautiful artwork others were posting and then all of the sudden I felt my work was unworthy to post along side everyone else's paintings.
No matter how hard I tried, or what ever youtube video I followed I just couldn't paint like everyone else!
Then a few more months down the road I came across a painting much like mine. In the way it was not perfect. I began to encourage others and tell them to just paint and enjoy it, and I realised I should take that same advise and stop being hard on myself. Painting is so much more fun and joyful when you allow yourself to "find your own style"
I still have so much to learn. As artist we never stop learning. So while we learn we also have to give ourselves permission to just paint and have fun !!
Isn't that why we start painting in the first place?
I hope everyone enjoys their own journey!

Thank you sweetheart. This is such an awesome comment and I’m sure it will encourage others. It’s best to look straight forward in our artistic journeys and constantly look to the left or the right in comparing ourselves to others.
