While Susan Jenkins may have started her fine art career later in life, she fell in love with drawing, painting and anything to do with color as a young girl. Combining her love for computer graphics and art, she majored in Graphic Design from the University of North Florida and was awarded the “Most Outstanding Artist” award upon graduation. Owning other businesses and having three children, her love of fine art was put on the back burner for a season in her life, but she considers her passion with color to be a beautiful obsession that has guided her heart to now have the job of her dreams painting her own creations and providing illustrative work for others.
After painting successfully for a few years, Susan had an unexpected setback in life when she found out she had cervical cancer which would require extensive chemo and radiation. Her faith and fighting spirit was a great blessing and fortunately, she now knows that God had more in store for her as she is now cancer free.
One of her favorite personal accomplishments has been the completion of her own children’s book that she authored and illustrated, titled “The Mountain Queen.” The young girl in the story was inspired by her own great grandmother and is one of amazing hope and faith. Susan also likes to give back in ways that bless others. When an orphanage that takes in abused children needed some artwork for their facilities, Susan donated 5 large paintings that would be one of the first things the children would see upon entering. She created them as bright and colorful landscapes, each having a different theme and hidden images throughout for the children to find. Susan also has a Youtube channel called, “Monet Cafe’” where she uploads free instructional art videos and lessons for anyone who would like to learn more about painting and the artistic process.
Susan considers it a great blessing to be able to look at the world through an artist’s eyes, and her love of God’s beautiful creation is her greatest inspiration to paint. She is excited to see what else God has in store for her, but mostly she hopes He will enable her to share hope and love through her art for others to experience and enjoy.

Artist Statement: Through my artwork, I try to allow others to experience God’s amazing world through my mind’s eye. My work is spontaneous and impressionistic often exaggerating color and attempting to create something that invites others to explore. While I paint I often feel I am a part of the scene, perhaps running through a field of flowers, or dancing in a meadow surrounded by color and life. My greatest joy is when others express that they can feel God’s spirit through my work. This is why I paint.
